Students will demonstrate their understanding of the theories discussed in class, covered in the readings and explored in the series of seminars, workshops and guest lectures. You will select from one cutting edge topic in crisis and issues communications to explore, research and comment on in a report format (complete with full referencing). This report is to be a review of the literature and practices, be limited to 15 pages which is approximately 3000 words (excluding the bibliography), 1 to 1.5 space, use 12 font and utilise full referencing (APA style). Additional materials may be placed in Appendices.
Assessment Description
Using an issue in the media (and approved by Unit Coordinator), students will define the problem, identify critical factors, and develop a series of recommendations and justify the most appropriate solution to the problem. Recommendations will be supported by working theories in public relations, decision-making, marketing
communication and issues and crisis communication.
