Child Development

    Paper #1: Developmental Paper s

Beyond chronological age, how can we tell where students are in their development? We will practice using observation of children, analysis with developmental theories, and application to the classroom. In this assignment, you will observe several children on video. You will compare, contrast and analyze this child’s cognitive, social, and moral developmental characteristics at age 7 to those displayed at age 14. You will then write about the development of this video child. You will include your observation, analysis, and predictions regarding the student at age 14 and discuss methods you might use for teaching this child according to your knowledge of their cognitive, social and moral development. The purpose of this paper is to prepare a concise but powerful analysis of one child’s development, predictions for future development and methods for teaching this child. APA formatting must be used for this paper.

    Content you will use:
Cognitive Development (Piaget) Cognitive Development, Environment & Socialization (Vygotsky)
Theories on Identity Development (Erikson and/or Marcia)
    Theories on Moral Development (Kohlberg)
