Rationale: The purpose of this assignment is to invite students to theorize leadership through identifying problem that you think can be changed for better nursing/nursing education(i choose this issue: separation between new mom and their infant). Think about this as an improvement project that you are planning, based on your interests and passions and on the needs of the unit where you will be doing your final practicum. The paper you will write is about this planned improvement. The choice about topic, issue or problem is up to you – choose something that you are passionate about; attempt to explore something that will assist you in your final practice course or your future career. Facilitating change, even small change, can lead to significant improvements in patient and population health outcomes, and increases the satisfaction of nurses.

Assessment Criteria
1) Final version of Project (due Dec 1,2013) 4-6 page paper (single spaced) Grading will be based on the strength of the argument made for change, including:
i) Significance of the problem or topic to nursing or nursing education or patient care within Qatar ii) Ability to clearly communicate the problem or topic
iii) Incorporation of relevant literature
iv) Feasibility of the plan. Is this plan achievable?
v) Creativity and novelty – is there evidence of a creative approach to a problem or issue that goes beyond what is already known or implemented in other countries/areas of practice?
vi) Quality of format and structure used in the work (APA format, grammar, spelling, clarity, sentence structure, reference use, etc.)
vii) Quality of resources used in your work – is it evident that you sought out and used valid, reliable and current resources in an attempt to complete your work? Do the resources help provide evidence and support for the planned change?
