    w/ Alcohol use

This case study assignment is designed to reinforce the unit learning objectives LO2: EO2.52.9.

Throughout this unit, you will review the signs and symptoms for dementia and delirium. The unit specifically examines Alzheimers disease since this is the most frequently encountered form of dementia for criminal justice professionals. It is also important for law enforcement professionals, first responders and other criminal justice professionals to familiarize themselves with the signs and symptoms of delirium. Cases of excited delirium are on the rise and individuals who encounter people suffering from this state will reach out to members of law enforcement for assistance in subduing the persons who are in the middle of an excited state. The encounters are very dangerous and present several challenges to law enforcement and other emergency responders.

Briefly discuss the signs and symptoms of Alzheimers disease or delirium that a trained law enforcement professional or first-responder may observe during the initial interactions with the individual in the scenario.
Brainstorm and create a NEW TOOL your team believes would be effective in resolving similar incidents with individuals suffering from either Alzheimers or delirium (based on your assigned category). Be certain to discuss how your NEW concept would reduce a chance of injuries to innocent bystanders as well as potential injuries to law enforcement officers? Explain in detail.
What does law enforcement currently have that will assist them in their response to Alzheimers or Excited Delirium calls for service. Is it effective and please justify your response.
