    You are to prepare a 5,000 word report for an organisation with which you are familiar or can easily find out information.

    Assumptions
    Assume that organisation is undertaking a decision to design and deliver a new product or service with which to enter a new market (either domestic or international).

    Purpose
    The purpose of your report is to critically evaluate the implications of the above decision for the various functional areas and resources of the organisation this decision will affect.

    NOTES:
    The organisation may be in the private, public or non-profit sectors, may be of any size, and may operate in any sector. The only stipulation is that you must choose a ‘real’ organisation on which to base your assignment.
    You should focus on the contemporary business function relevant to the subject specialism of your course in light of its integration with other functional areas.
    If you are undertaking a generalist course may choose to adopt either a generalist approach to the assignment, or may also choose to focus on one contemporary business function in light of its integration with other functional areas.
    Your critical evaluation of the decision should consider the pervasive issues of sustainability, globalisation, corporate social responsibility, diversity, business innovation, creativity, enterprise development, knowledge management and risk management which you deem to be relevant to the organisation.

    How your work will be assessed:
    1. Relevance to the focus of the question (40% of the overall mark for the module):
    This will include your ability to:
    recognise the individual functions that constitute an organisation, and how these need to be integrated across the whole organisation;
    develop a critically analytical approach to the implementing strategic decisions and the difficulties of monitoring and controlling them;
    and submit an appropriate style of report to a masterly academic standard, including the ability to reference all sources according to the Glamorgan guidelines for Harvard referencing.

    2. Critical evaluation of relevant academic literature (40% of the overall mark for the module):

    3. Inclusion of relevant pervasive issues (20% of the overall mark for the module):
    You will not be expected to include all of the pervasive issues identified in the module, but marks will reflect the appropriateness of the issues you choose to include.
