Assignment

Guide Line: From the 300 and The Last of the Mohicans movies, preferably more than once, and take notes on all of the features that you notice. Plot summary is not appropriate content for this essay, so pay more attention to film elements other than the storyline.  The more specific you can be, the more helpful your notes will be.  Elements to note include

    genre
    cast, characters, and character types
    context, director, and style
art direction (the look of the film)
    sound (music, effects) and dialogue
themes (meanings or “the message” in the movie)—perhaps the most important element of all for this essay.

Note: I did my first draft it wasn’t good. If you guys could develop it more and make it better. Be free to do it. Also be free to change the title.

Here are some notes from the professor about my first draft:
    – The first draft is in the system–good.  Because it is a partial draft, it earns only partial credit and much more development is needed as part of the multifaceted work of revision.  Don’t be afraid to modify the t-f statement or to rework the paragraphs and topic sentences to make the order of topics appear inevitable.  Be on the lookout for sentence fragments; I noticed two on the first page.  Match the format to the sample essays exactly in terms of things like font (including pagination and Works Cited), spacing, etc.  Don’t forget:  the grade of the draft in no way predicts the grade for the essay.  The grade on the draft is based on really basic concerns rather than the five categories that we discussed from the drafting page; those features will be the core of the grade of the revised essay.
