1123-Research Paper Requirements:
Choose a span of 10 years during your life-time a person (none can be personal friends/relatives unless there are some written works about them (newspaper, magazine, books, internet sources, etc), event, place, medicine, book, or —even an animal) that you believe has made a great impact on your life and circumstances (be sure to specify how). You will need to do research on your topic.
The example of the research paper shows how a student chose three different topics and incorporated them into one research topic. However, you may choose one or two or three topics as long as I approve them and they meet all other requirements listed.
Title page
Outline
At least 8 parenthetical references
Works Cited page with at least 7 sources.
The text will need to be 7-10 pages long (the body of the paper is 7-10 pages long; the title page, outline and works cited are not part of the 7-10 pages).
Must have a good Introduction, Body, and Conclusion.
The Works Cited must include at least two books; the rest may be websites.
All must be correct, according to your MLA Documentation book or Research Papers book.
You may choose from any of these. None can be personal friends/relatives unless there are some written works about them (newspaper, magazine, books, internet sources, etc
I would ask that you leave out presidents and hurricanes as these have become so common to write about. Some possibilities for people are:
Inventors (even if there is no patent)
Writers
Ministers
Journalists
Musicians
Doctors and nurses.
Some other ideas might be:
Wars (even if they have not been in your life-time but certainly affected your life in some way; these are wars like World War I or II; Civil War; Vietnam War; Desert Storm; Iraq; Afghanistan, etc.).
Stock market
The economy
Medicines surely play an important part in many people’s lives (maybe one that helps you function or one of your parents or a sibling or a grandparent or friend)
Books are important and sometimes change people’s lives just by reading one particular one.
Particular movies can greatly affect our lives.
Certain animals (pets we have loved, maybe trained as therapy dogs; some unusual occurrence with one). If you use this one and there are no written sources, find a story with a website that is similar and include it along with your own pet’s story.
As you can see, there are many items to think about. Since you have to submit your topics, I will be able to tell you whether they are appropriate to write about and how to go about your research
