Choose one of the following topics and write a paper of about five pages double spaced using documented research from at least five sources, including two library sources. Your sources should be cited according to the MLA style sheet format. You should also include a separate “works cited” page.

Be careful not to indulge in lengthy plot summaries of the works you are discussing. Also, do not merely summarize the ideas of the research documents that you consult. Your paper should have a clear thesis and the ideas from your sources should be coordinated with your own.
Analyze the role of the ghost in the plot of Hamlet. The ghost introduces a supernatural element into the play. Is the ghost “real” or imagined? Why is it visible to some characters and not to others? What role does the ghost play in the plot? How do the characters, especially Hamlet, react to the ghost’s presence? How does the ghost’s behavior affect the way Hamlet acts in response to his father’s death?
