Learning outcomes that must be covered:
2. Reflect on management and leadership values and analyse the impact on healthcare delivery
4. Apply evidence-based practice and demonstrate effective research methods to improve nursing practice and standards in healthcare
5. With support, critically reflect upon professional values and beliefs, encompassing the principles of policy implementation in relation to nursing practice.
6. Demonstrate active involvement in web-based learning
Structure:
Review the sessions on EBP, management, leadership and policy implementation.
Main areas to be covered in the assignment:
• Explore EBP and its relationship to research/methodologies/quality of evidence. You need to make the link between research and EBP. You then need to consider different paradigms and their impact on EBP. It is useful here to illustrate an understanding of the quality of research and how this is decided.
• How does it relate to policy implementation and standards of health care? You need to consider how EBP relates to practice with regard to policies and procedures that directly relate to patient care. What impact does this have on patient care and nurses ability to deliver holistic care.
• What is your responsibility and accountability as a nurse in relation to EBP? Consider the role of the nurse here in general terms. You are not required to discuss personal perspectives.
• How does this relate to the actual care of patients?
• How do management and leadership styles affect the implementation of EBP? Discuss the concepts of management and leadership that we have discussed. Consider the impact of these roles on the implementation of EBP.
• How do management and leadership styles affect the functionality of the clinical environment?
• Reflect on the qualities and attitudes required for successful EBP practice.
• Conclude your discussion considering the importance of EBP within the current health care arena.
