I would like you to address innovative programs which have been used to bring together law enforcement and the communities they serve. The programs that you cite in your papers must have an evaluative component to them. In other words, the program must have some reason for being AND must be able to prove that the program has worked (you would not want the new mayor to use tax money for programs that do not work). What is a decent reason to have such a community – police program? Perhaps one particular ethnic group has many more people going to jail than another. One group is victimized more often than another. A particular location is the site of much more crime than another. There is a significant distrust between a particular ethnic or racial community and the police.
Your paper should be written in accordance with the guidelines in the syllabus. Please identify five programs (from any place in the United States or Canada) that have achieved their stated goals in improving law enforcement/community objectives.
