Write an essay of 3-4 pages responding to one of the prompts below.  Your essay should support a clearly stated thesis by interpreting passages from the texts relevant to your chosen topic (abortion or animal rights), and by providing arguments for the claims you make.  Your thesis should advocate your own position, and any outside sources consulted in formulating your interpretation must be cited using an appropriate format.  See Vaughn, Chapter 2 and Appendix B, for help using CMS (Chicago Manual of Style) and MLA (Modern Language Association) citation formats.
