The assignment can be done in a small group of 1-3 students. Think of a small organization that is building a database to manage part of its business (e.g., selling books online). Note: this may be a “fictitious” business. That is, you do not need to do any outside research. You will “make up” your data. Create approximately 10 records for each table. First think of what information would be needed for the business process? Then think how they can be related.

• build three or more related Tables to handle the business data o consider what common field (key) will connect the tables o create a relationship to join the tables together o use “one to many” relationship as we did in class; however, if you wish to use

“many-to-many”, you may do so. o Ensure your database is using referential integrity.

• create at least five Queries to combine information from your tables to answer your query. All five should be significantly different from each other.

o one Query should include a mathematical function using the Expression Builder o one Query should include statistics (e.g., sum, average, etc.)

• create 3 Forms with Sub-Form that displays data based on your tables

• create 3 Reports with an “image/picture” and some formatting based on your tables or queries.

• Create a navigation form and ensure that when the Access file is opened, the navigation form opens first.

Documents to be submitted Access database through the Blackboard Soft copy of a word document, which include the following:

• Brief description of the business and the database you have built

• Choice and explanation on primary/foreign key

• A copy of “relationships report”

• Your queries in plain language and the significance of your query (why the query and what did you find out from your query)

Work must be original and should be done by you! Any suspected plagiarized work will not be accepted. In fact, you will be reported to the office for academic misconduct.
