For the second assignment I want you to address the following question:
How can Eastern Kentucky and or Kentucky as a whole address the illegal prescription drug problem? To help you get started you should think about ideas such as the supply and demand of prescription drugs. I would encourage you to go to google and see if you find individuals that the police have arrested in regards to selling prescription drugs illegally. Think about the time and resources that need to be devouted to finding, capturing, and prosecuting such behavior.(Times are changing! Colorado and Washington State have legalized pot-what will the country look like 5 years from now?) Also think about the risk the seller encounter when he/she engages in illegal activities. Also, think about his/her opportunity cost. also, see if you can use the terms marginal benefit and marginal cost in your writing in addition to the term opportunity cost. These are ideas that you have already studied in your textbook. But, now, use google and do some searching on the web to read some articles to help you formulate a possible solution to this terrible epidemic that is destroying our state and country!
