reader response

    reader response
PLEASE READ THE REQUIREMENTS CAREFULLY. If it is not clear then email me.
This is not an essay it is reader response. I placed my order as it is an essay but that is because you don’t have a reader response choice on the website.
Writer must read the attachment carefully and write AN ANALYSIS not a SUMMARY.
There is no need for any outside sources because it is an analysis. And I will upload the needed files for writing the reader response.

NOTE: This Reader Response is about the readings:
This week’s reader response is about the Pulitzer Prize winning play by Tennessee Williams, A Streetcar Named Desire. The play is divided into ten scenes. (There are no acts.) It is posted full-text in the attachments.

Keep this in mind, as in-text citations must provide both scene and page number from the PDF file.

The response is one document (one file). It should be a minimum of 1page or 250 words (not counting quotations and in- text citations) and begin with a thesis statement (underlined).

Assignment: “I have always depended on the kindness of strangers,” Blanche remarks at the end of the play, as the doctor accompanies her from the house (10.159). What do you think Blanche means? Is her departure a defeat or victory for Blanche? Scenes appear on the following pages:
Scene One begins on Page 1.
    Scene Two = Page 26
    Scene Three = 42
    Scene Four = 65
    Scene Five = 79
    Scene Six= 93
    Scene Seven = 109
    Scene Eight = 119
    Scene Nine = 127
    Scene Ten = 137

    NOTE:
1- Please type the total word count in the heading of your response or immediately after the title (in parentheses). Do not include quotes and in -text citations in this word count.

2- Again: quotations and in-text citations do not count in determining word length.

3- Responses that do not meet the minimum required word length will receive a grade of zero.

4- Remember to provide textual support and in-text citations to support what you say. Without supporting evidence and in-text citations, the assignment is an opinion – not an argument. The assignment is incomplete, and no grade greater than “50″ will be recorded.

5- No more than 20-25% of your reader response should include direct quotes and in- text citations. Using more than 20-25% shows too great a reliance on someone else’s ideas, rather than your own.

Read this carefully please. About the Reader Response: The first part of the response is an analysis in which you answer the question, while the last paragraph is a confrontation, a personalized statement of meaning.

    Part One:
The analysis should be a good paragraph or two that begins with a thesis statement, followed by your discussion and supporting evidence (including in-text citations). Remember to support what you say with textual evidence (examples and quotations from the
novel); otherwise, you write an opinion, which is not the assignment.

IMPORTANT: Avoid “dropping in” quotes— choose your quotes judiciously and be sure to explain the significance of each.

QUOTATIONS SHOULD NEVER BE SUBSTITUTES FOR YOUR OWN IDEAS. They support your argument by providing evidence.
Remember, the importance of quotations is not self-evident. Explain why you are introducing them and what conclusion a reader should draw from them.

The confrontation does not mean that you are “meeting” the author head on to argue, although you may. The conclusion, instead, is subjective; it’s discussing how you relate to anything in the literature; it’s your way of airing what you like, dislike, or what it means to your everyday life. (This is a response not a summary).

The “textual evidence” you provide to back up your statements in the confrontation should include an example or experience from your own life (or someone you know well).

Remember: this section is about you and the text.

You do not need a Work Cited. The only text that should be used is the play itself, which is posted in the attachments.
