The diagram should build off of your organizational diagram but be focused exclusively on departments and functions rather than personalities and roles.
Annotate each component on the diagram with a brief name and description
The current state should reflect a mix of your experiences with your current real organization, your understanding of legacy systems prevalent in the real world and your understanding of information systems in general. The end result will be a picture of your organization’s current information system state, keeping in mind you will have the opportunity and challenge to drive it to the future state and a true, robust EISA. Thus, it may be easier to work “backwards” by identifying your future state initially and then depicting “how it used to be”.
In addition to the diagram
In a 500 to 750 word paper, describe a typical business process in your organization that you created for Capturing the Current State:
Choose a typical business process used in your organization (i.e., marketing, sales, administration, or manufacturing, for example)
Identify the components of the enterprise architecture that are involved in the business process
Describe how the current state architecture helps or hinders the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the overall chosen business process.
Describe the limitations of the central and/or decentralized IT support functions in relation to the chosen business process
Describe either the lack of, or presence of, standardization related to the enterprise architecture in relation to the chosen business process
