Term paper: For your term paper, you will build on and revise the work you did for the assignments. Choose either one crime incident or a set of crimes from the film “The Wild Wonderful Whites of West Virginia.” Contrast and compare two competing theories that can be used to explain a particular crime. Research each theory you’re using by reading articles and books that apply each theory. You must cite at least two sources (journal articles or books) besides the textbook for each theory (total of at least 4 sources). You will compose a polished, 8-page (not including title page and bibliography) term paper which:
1. Includes a title page, introduction, body, conclusion, page numbers, and bibliography
2. Summarizes the crime(s) and its circumstances
3. Compares two competing criminological theories that might be used to explain the crime(s)
4. Explains the paradigm in which each theory falls
5. Identifies one or more criminal justice policies that are logically linked to each of the two theories
6. Argues, using research evidence, for the best criminological theory to explain the crime(s) you chose to write about.
Final papers must be typed in 12-point font with 1-inch margins. Papers must be a minimum of 8 double-spaced 8 pages and maximum of 10 pages, not including title page or bibliography, and formatted in APA style.
