This research exercise will correspond to the material covered in the course. Each student will select a topic within the boundary of the theme of this course. The paper can cover a specific person, event or place from the time frame of our course. Use the textbook as a start for suggested topics. I have listed some example topics in a folder as well. Students do not have to use the example topics. Students can share their topics and research with the professor in office hours as they work toward the final product. This allows for feedback concerning the project.

Students are required to write a minimum of full 5 pages of content; please keep the essay to no more than 7 pages of content.

Format: Doubled-spaced, typed, font in Times New Roman or Arial, size 12.

1-inch margins all around. APA format. The paper is to be submitted only in either Microsoft Word (.doc) format or in Rich Text Format (.rtf) during Week Eight. Cover page and sources pages do not constitute numbered pages. Students selecting a topic must include at least six sources; make use of scholarly journal articles and books available in the Virtual Library or local libraries in your area. Students that do not complete the assignment will receive a zero for the work.

Questions concerning the paper should be handled by calling during scheduled office hours and Blackboard Messages. This allows one on one attention between the student and the professor. Since this is a 100-level college class with writing prerequisites, basic research paper writing proficiency is assumed. Questions should be directed at specific inquiries about research and content.
